Nick Mitchell

Few people arrive at greig + stephenson with a heritage portfolio quite like Nick’s. Having spent several years at Purcell and Buttress Architects in Manchester working on the restoration of Manchester Town Hall, Wythenshawe Hall and Victoria Park in Stafford, they joined g+s in the summer of 2021 with a deep grounding in historic buildings and how to work sensitively within them.

They studied in Manchester, where their focus was on understanding historic buildings and their settings, and how the lessons they hold can inform new interventions that maintain and enhance a place’s narrative. At g+s, Huddersfield Market has been their primary focus, alongside Whitechapel and contributions toward Bilston Market. What they enjoy most is getting under the skin of a place and understanding its relationship with the community around it. Their interests in adaptive reuse, access and inclusion, and projects that genuinely serve the public are a natural fit for the work greig + stephenson takes on.

Outside the studio, Nick walks their dog, runs, cycles, loves a drag show and has strong opinions about pop music.
