Social value
Community + Engagement
Good design starts with listening. Our community consultation process is built around genuine engagement rather than box-ticking. We run iterative design consultations throughout the life of a project, including speed dating style ideas sessions where community members, traders and stakeholders rotate between design stations, responding to proposals and shaping the direction of the work in real time. It is a deliberate attempt to make the design process feel accessible and inclusive, ensuring the people who will use a space every day have a real voice in how it is designed. The best ideas rarely come from the drawing board alone.

Sustainability
Retain, repair, regenerate
Our first approach is always to consider the potential for retention and reuse, understanding the social, design and heritage impacts of the work we undertake.
In our 30+ years of practice, we have extended the life and heritage of numerous buildings and heritage assets that communities could ill afford to lose – with their embodied carbon and embedded cultural significance preserved and enhanced.

Recognition
Shaping the conversation
Recognition is not just about awards. It is about being part of the wider conversation around what markets can be.
In 2024, Adam Parker was invited to moderate a session at the 12th International Public Markets Conference in Milwaukee, one of the leading global forums for market design, management and urban regeneration. Being asked to lead that conversation is a recognition of the practice’s standing in the field internationally.
