Thierry Allano

Director + Architect

DPLG

Thierry has been with greig + stephenson since 1995, making him one of the longest-standing members of the team and a cornerstone of the practice. He studied at Paris-Belleville and qualified as an architect in 1990.

Thierry later began his career in France working on residential and civic projects before moving to the UK, where his focus shifted to commercial projects both domestically and overseas.

His food market expertise runs deep: it began with winning the Borough Market RIBA competition in 1996 and has since shaped some of g+s’ most significant work, including Bilston, Bacup and Melton Mowbray.

As a Director, he typically comes in at the very earliest stage of a project, from first concept through to completion, and his hand drawing skills are something of a studio legend, bringing ideas to life on paper.

Outside the studio, Thierry is a former triathlete with a background in running, cycling and tennis, and a genuine curiosity about the world that stretches across art, history and geography. He’s the kind of person who makes a practice feel like more than just a place to work.
