Brief / To design a marketing suite for Midsummer Place

The Context/ Further to Greig and Stephenson's work on the extension to the Milton Keynes shopping centre, developers London & Amsterdam commissioned G+S to design the project's on-site marketing suite for major retailing prospective tenants including Debenhams, Virgin, Gap and H&M.

What we did/ The marketing suite, situated on the site of the shopping centre extension, constituted a radical departure from the average marketing suites in the outstanding quality of its specification and materials.  The suite's main function was to communicate the ambitions of the final overall scheme.

immediately located in the building-site environment, our design projected a high-quality corporate / leisure feel to the visiting potential clients.  The suite's exterior featured a striking 12m x 3m veranda, built in Iroko desking with a steel frame, to work as a viewing platform for the development in progress.  Inside, the suite, conference room, offices, kitchen and toilets.  Most of the furniture was created especially for this project, including all tables, units, special feature walls in cherry wood and maple flooring.  The suite also provided offices for internal use by London & Amsterdam staff.

Impact /

The Impact / Following an extensive consultation exercise, the designers have created a suite of facilities appropriate for the work patterns of the users.
