The brief / To design a £30m mixed-use development scheme within an existing building shell, including all interior finishes and the design implementation.

The context/ St Quentin en Yvelines, France

What we did / In 2005, Greig + Stephenson completed the Sqy Ouest project.  The development scheme, totalling 33,000 square metres of retail space, also includes a 16-screen multiplex cinema and a new-multi-level car park.  The centre has helped to position Saint Quentin en Yvelines as a complete entertainment centre to the West of Paris.

The shopping area is linked to existing and new parking at the lower and upper levels.  A central atrium with escalators and elevators connects the retail space with the multiplex on the top floor of the complex.  Stylistically, the overall finishes of layered stone, white plaster ceiling rafts, glass, stainless steel balustrading and timber framed store fronts are aimed at the local catchment of customers from Versailles.
