Ken Greig - BSc Arch AA Diploma
Director
Prior to founding Greig + Stephenson Architects in 1994, Ken worked at international design consultancy Fitch for 10 years, where he was jointly responsible with Nigel Stephenson for the direction and management of the architecture team. Early projects at Fitch included the concept design and development of the Pavilions Shopping Centre in Uxbridge. This was followed by a number of major shopping centre developments with project values up to £110 million, including the Kirkgate Centre in Leeds, the Cattle Market site at Bury St Edmunds (competition winner) and the Leeds Market Hall. Later work for the Burton Group included new concepts for their Oxford Street flagship store and the Debenhams chain.
Ken also worked on a number of German development programmes in Monheim, Munchengladbach and Munich, and on several Dutch inner city and regional development programmes, including Zuidplein for developer MBO and de Kolk for developer ABN/AMRO.
More recently Ken has worked with Dutch food retailer Ahold on a number of new build shopping centre and branding concepts in Europe and, closer to home, on Midsummer Place in Milton Keynes, HMV, Waterstone's bookshops, Leicester Market and London's Borough Market.
Nigel Stephenson - BSc Arch

Nigel also worked for the design company Fitch as joint director of 'Shopping Centres' before setting up Greig + Stephenson Architects. One of the earliest GSA projects was the extension and refurbishment of one of Holland's top 100 monuments - the De Bijenkorf department store in The Hague. A further De Bijenkorf store was built in a new shopping centre in Amstelveen . Following the award-winning success of the Corio Center at Heerlen in the south of Holland, Nigel has since completed three new shopping centres including Rotterdam's Oesterhof Shopping Centre, Roermund in the Netherlands, and Nivove in Brussels.
Howard Bates - MA Interior Design
Director
Howard graduated from the Royal College of Art in 1991, and has since worked with a number of leading design consultancies including Din Associates and Design Solution. With the latter he was involved in a number of large scale nationwide roll-outs with the Burton Group, implementing design for such high street stores as Principles and Evans, as well as on projects such as the restaurant Café Lazeez. Howard joined Greig + Stephenson Architects in 1995, and has since taken a prominent role in many major retail projects. He has been responsible for many of the HMV stores in Britain and in Europe including the new Oxford Street flagship store, as well as the Base Bar in London , a joint venture between HMV and Selfridges. He has also completed the development of Leicester Market including the interiors and branding for the new Café Boca at its heart. Howard has also designed store interiors for the booksellers Waterstone's. Since leaving college Howard has also taught Interior Design at the University of Central England , and the Surrey Institute of Art and Design.
Thierry Allano - DPLG (Diploma)
School of Architecture of Paris , Belleville
Thierry qualified as an architect in Paris in 1991, studying at Henri Ciriani's Atelier Uno before working for a number of French architectural practices including C&D Carril, and with Macary & Zublena at SCAU. Thierry joined Greig + Stephenson Architects in 1994 and has worked on large retail projects such as Alexandium I, the final phase of a shopping centre in Rotterdam, he also contributed to the Corio Center project in 2002, the interior refurbishment and signage strategy for the Zuidplein shopping centre in South Rotterdam, and Haaglanden Megastore in The Hague. Ninia, a mixed development town centre scheme of new housing and retail in Brussels is now complete. Thierry was also closely involved in the concept stages for the redevelopment of the Borough Market. This included the design of a new building to be integrated into the historically sensitive market, and incorporating the Portico from the Floral Hall, relocated from Covent Garden Market.
Jaap Punt - BI Architect (ir. ing.)
After graduating as a Bachelor Engineer Jaap started his architecture training at the Technical University Delft in the Netherlands . Winning an urban re-development competition in his first year of study he co-founded the Architecture OfficeHeren 5. After his graduation in 1991 Jaap worked for Van Berkel & Bos / UN studio on several high profile projects including Erasmus Bridge Spido in Rotterdam , Museum RMT in Enschede, Offices, Housing & Shopping centre De Kolk in Amsterdam . Jaap then joined the De Architekten Cie in 1999; here he primarily worked on the planning and later the housing design for 30,000 houses on the newly made artificial Island IJburg, located between the old port of Amsterdam and the Island of Pampus . Jaap joined Greig + Stephenson Architects in 2004, working as a project architect on new offices and housing developments.
