Greig & Stephenson is aware of its duties under the law, and its broader responsibilities to the environment and to all who may be affected by its work. The practice operates an equal opportunities policy which applies to staff whether full time or part time employees, temporary workers or freelance consultants. The directors strive to ensure that the correct measures are taken to protect the health, safety and welfare of all staff and visitors on company premises and on company business elsewhere.
At Greig & Stephenson we recognise that our operations have an impact on the environment, not only as a working organisation but also in the buildings we design. Our company is committed to minimising these impacts wherever possible and to continually improving our environmental performance. As architects we understand the importance of energy efficiency and specify sustainable technologies and materials wherever possible. In-house we are working towards becoming a carbon neutral company and do our best to run our business responsibly with the same consideration for the environment that we apply to our projects. Greig & Stephenson supports sustainable commuting - we encourage our employees to walk and cycle where appropriate and use public transport for greater distances. G&S has a company bicycle policy which enables and encourages staff to buy bicycles with a tax-back discount. We also have systems in place that allow home working. Business travel is almost exclusively by public transport using trains where possible within the UK and near Europe. Longer distance European travel by air is carbon off-set.
