Greig & Stephenson has worked with its long-standing client ING on numerous European retail projects, including a major new shopping centre in Wickrange, Luxembourg, that opened in late 2010. The scheme was nominated for an international Council of Shopping Centres (ICSC) award while the outstanding ING retail scheme in Oostende, Belgium - one of our practice's most successful retail projects to date - received a commendation.
The Oostende scheme comprises a new retail destination inside a former museum of fine art. It forms a link between the Kapellestraat, Oostende's main shopping street, and the popular civic square, Wapenplein. The focus of the development is an internal covered central courtyard.
Wickrange shopping centre is 40,000 square metres in size, located on the main highway 15km south west of the city of Luxembourg. Competing directly with Luxembourg city centre, its catchment area extends into Belgium, France and Germany.
