Duties and responsibilities
Greig & Stephenson is aware of the environmental impact inherent in our work. To this end, we always observe our duties under the law, but also choose to take these considerations a step further. Our company is committed to minimising these impacts wherever possible and continually improving our environmental performance. As architects we understand the importance of energy efficiency and specify sustainable technologies and materials wherever possible. In-house we are working towards becoming carbon neutral and do our best to run our business responsibly with the same consideration for the environment that we apply to our projects.
We uphold an equal opportunities policy for staff, temporary workers or freelance consultants. Our directors strive to ensure that the correct measures are taken to protect the health, safety and welfare of all staff and visitors on company premises and on company business elsewhere. G&S supports sustainable commuting - we encourage our employees to walk and cycle where appropriate and use public transport for greater distances. We have a company bicycle policy, which enables and encourages staff to buy bicycles with a tax-back discount. We also have systems in place that allow home working. Business travel is almost exclusively by public transport using trains where possible within the UK and Europe. Longer distance travel by air is carbon off-set.
